Last Post at Menin Gate

Every evening at 8 pm, the fallen of World War One from Canada, Britain and other Commonwealth countries are honoured in the town of Ieper (Ypres), Belgium. A monumental entranceway to the town is covered with inscriptions of the names of 54,896 war dead whose remains could not be identified in the aftermath of battle; of that number, 6,983 were Canadian.

In May, 2010, the participation of Canadian veterans from World War Two and their piper made this solemn daily ritual extra special.

Last Post at Menin Gate is one in a series of short films by Max Fraser called "Documentaries of Remembrance" that follow Canadians' journeys to Europe to honour the fallen.
