Return to Pontecorvo

On May 24, 1944, the town of Pontecorvo, Italy was liberated by the Royal Canadian Regiment as part of the Allied victory in breaking the “Hitler Line,” a well-fortified position in the Liri Valley south or Rome and north of Cassino.

Sixty-five years later, Canadian veterans return for a ceremony – and are welcomed back as heroes. The comments they make are worth remembering.

Return to Pontecorvo is one in a series of short films by Max Fraser called "Documentaries of Remembrance" that follow Canadians' journeys to Europe to honour the fallen.
